The Information of Richard Jones 4^th. February 169$\frac{8}{9}$

This Informant saith that upon the 11^th. of January last past he this Informant did give upon oath before George Smith Es one of his Majestys Justices of the peace for the County of Gloucester at the Generall Quarter Sessions there an Information against William Wintoar Gentleman and one Joseph Millard and also against one William. Rogers and one John Bacon who were two officers belonging to the Excise which Information was all partially true And this Informant further saith that the said M^r. Wintour and Millard not hearing thereof as this Informant has heard and doth believe the said Millard did importune and desire this Informant to come and work at a Certain Still house near Wintours Dwelling house where this Informant had workt for severall years at the still house and some others belonging to the said Wintour's in the Trade of Brandy Low Wines & Spirits and this Informant further saith that upon Tuesday the 17 of January last he this Informant was actually imployed in Destilling in the said Still house and that one Hoggs head of Spirritts was destilled that day and night and was concealed and carryed away without any duty being paid to the King or any account taken by any officer and that upon Fryday the 20^th. of January last past one half hoggs head of Spirrits was destilled + concealed + carryed away without any duty being paid to the King or any account taken by any officer in the like manner as aforesaid And this Informant further saith that he had gave the said Information long before as he did to George Smith Esq^r. at the sessions last holden for the County of Gloucester but the said M^r Wintour did formerly threaten this Informant saying that if he did discover his Concealements he would shoot this Informant and would certainly be his death or words to that effect
