|Middx Westm.^er } Ss| The Deposition of Henry Hodson of y^e parish of S^t Andrews Holbourn Gent. taken this 13^th of December Anno 1700

This Deponent saith y^t he does verily beleive y^t one Elizabeth Franklin doth or lately did Lodge w^th James Mathews of Waysbury in y^e County of BucksBuckinhhamshire paper maker where she w^th others does practice y^e Trade of diminishing Guineys & y^t y^e S^d James Mathews does usualy once in three weeks or oftener come to London to putt off y^e S^d diminisht & counterfeit Guineys this Deponent further Saith y^t y^e S^d Elizabeth Franklyn did one time w^ch this Deponent cannot well remember pay to y^s deponent one counterfeit Guiney w^ch he y^e S^d Deponent hath yet in his custody y^t y^s depon.^t upon receit thereof told it was a bad counterfeit Guiney she replyd it will goe well enough & if y^s Depon.^t would keep his Councell she would Infrom him all & maintain him so long as he should live or words to y^e same effect.
