The Examinacon of Iohn Wood Sword Cutler now in in {sic} Custody taken before Isaac Newton Esqr one of his Majties Iustices of the peace for the County of Middx aforesd this 3d day of Decemb. anno Dom: 1699

Who being duly examin'd saith yt abot a year ago he this Examt became acquainted with Richard Elsam who then Lived in {blow} anchor ally near moor fields by ye means of one Mr Morgan ye sd Elsam did solicit this Examt to make counterfeit Spanish Pistolls for hims this Examt did promise so to do & Elsam gave him give pounds in order to go on wth the Design aforesd & in a little time afterwards this Examt gave two good Spanish pistoles to ye sd Richard Elsam, and told him he made them himself and a little afterwards the sd Elsam gave to this Examt. forty five pounds in order to carry on the design of making counterfeit Spanish pistoles but this Examt did not make any and he further saith that the arg{illeg}|o|le and other things that one now produced and wch were this fay found in his house by Mr Rewse and Mr Saker are things wch he designed to make us of in his Trade of Sword cutler
