By the Coinage Act of y^e. 18^th. of Car. 2^d. the Fees and salaries of the Officers of the Mint, the charges of Providing maintaining and reparing {sic} the houses, Offices and Buildings of the mint and other Necessaries for Assaying, Melting-down & Coyning were not to exceed Three thousand pounds ꝑ Ann. but that sum not being found sufficient, and y^e residue of y^e. mony Arising by y^e. said Coynage Act being appropriated, a further Provision was made of any sum not exceeding five hundred Pounds ꝑ Ann for y^e. same uses by an Act 4^to. & 5^to. Annæ; And M^r. Auditor Harley finding that by y^e. Inclosed Accompts both these sums have been Exceeded in the Articles abovemenconed, directs me to send you y^e. said Accompts, desiring the said Charges may be reduced, as they ought to be, according to y^e. direction of the saic Acts, I am
