With the addition that of the £500 increase awarded in 1705, £400 was earmarked for the moneyers [see MINT00074 (Mint 19/1/206)], and the remaining £100, which was supposed to cover pay increases for the clerks, was urgently needed to repair Mint buildings that were on the point of collapse [see MINT00123 (Mint 19/2/497)].
