[1]The manner of the Tryall of the Pix

An order of his Maty & Councill to appoint a day for the tryall of the Pix \moneys of gold & silver in the Pix/ at the usuall place neare the starr chamber.

|Three Clerks extract out of hteir books the weights \& tale/ of all the moneys taken us from time to time & the tale of the Pix & 45 or 50 copies thereof are written fair to be distributed to ye Lds & Iury at ye Triall|

The Lord Chancellour to be waited on to send his Letter to ye Wardens \& Company/ of the Goldsmith's company to returne \him/ the names of an able Iury for the|a||t| tryall|.| of the moneys of Gold & Silver in the Pix

The returne of the names being made to his Lordp, e sends his Warrant by his Sarjeant at Armes or \Sarjeants/ {d}|D|eputy Sarjeant to summon them \Iury/ by their names to meet at the same place & time & place.

The day \of this Tryal/ being come the Pix boxes are put on ye Table before {illeg}|n|ine in ye morning
At about tenn a Clock
the Lords do meet & take their places, the Officers of the Mint Exchequer Officers & Goldsmiths attending

The Lord Chancellour calls to his Sarjeant at Arms for their Warrant for summoning of the Iury & appoints the same to be delivered to the Remembrancers Deputy who attends there with the copy of the Oath.

The Pix boxes are opened by the Officers of the Mint & the Gold & Silver moneys therein poured upon the Table

And then The Lords Ca|h|ancellour doth cause|se||th| the said Oath to be administred to ye Iury.

The Lords Commrs of ye Treasury appoin{illeg}|t| the standard Troy-weights & the Indented Tryall pieces of his Maties c|C|rown-gold Moneys & standard silver moneys kept in the Treasury to be delivered for ye use of the Iury, & th{illeg}|e| Lord{s} \Chancellour/ examins the Trall {sic} piece by the \like/ Indented Tryal pieces of the Mint.

The Lord Chancellour gives the Iury in charge to make tryall of the gold & silver moneys \in the Pix/ both by weight & fineness according to ye Rules\in the most just manner that can be by the said standards of/ \their Maties Treary according to the Rules/ set down in the Indenture of the Mint

The{illeg} Lords Commrs Chancellour appoints the Iury when they have agreed in their Veredict where & when & where to attend {illeg}|h|is Lordp \with their Veredict/ & so departs with ye rest of the Lords.

The Iury being withdrawn inspect the Indenture of the Mint \& in presence of the Officers of ye Mint/ examin the gold & silver moneys in the Pix by weight, tale & fineness, {or} after the tryal when \when/ they present their Veredict when they {weigh} \& being/ agreed \& when agreed/ on their Veredict, {&} \accompanied by the/ present it to |ye| his Lordp Lord Chancellour \being accompanied with ye Officers of ye M./ |&| he Remembrancers Deputy attends|i||ng| to rece|ad|ive it & after it is read to receive it.

The manner of the trial of the Pix.

The time & place of ye trial being appointed {illeg}|&| the Iury summoned & the day come, the Pix bo{illeg}|x|es are put on the Table before nine in the morning
