|Com Lancast^er Ss| Informaion of Robert Sowerbutts late of Poulton in this County husbandman taken upon Oath July 12.^th 1704

Who upon his Oath saith that on or ab.^t the 28.^th of Aug^t last his this Inform:^t went with M^r John Elletson then Keeper of her Ma.^ties Goale at Lancaster to y^e house of one M^r Abram Rawlinson in Furneis in this County, and that y^e S^d M^r Elletson togeather with this Inform:^t, went up staires in with y^e S^d Rawlinsō into a closet w^ch was by M^r Elletson & this Informant Searched, and there found two files a large hand-vice, and 5. crucibles, in one of w^ch crucibles was a counterfeit Guinea (all which by order of M^r Elletson) was careyed to M^r Elletsons house in Lancast^er by this Deponent, and left with his wife, and this Inform:^t remembers, y^t when he discovered the S^d false Guinea, he acquainted the S^d Elletson therewith, and M^r Elletson replyed, that his discovery said it would be worth a hundred pound to him, and afterward at Huntsbank the S^d Elletson bid this Inform:^t say nothing on't. That about a month ago this Inform:^t asked the S^d Elletson, for the S^d things so found in the S^d Rawlinsons house as aforesaid, when the S^d Elletson reply'd why! what do you want them? And this Inform:^t hath been told that the S^d M^r Elletson hath had and received the sum̄e of thirty pounds Sterling from the S^d Rawlinson for his the S^d Elletsons favour to him the S^d Rawlinson & the concealment of the S^d matters as aforesaid, and this Inform:^t remembers y^t one Anthony Askew of Lancaster whitesmith a relaion of M^r Elletson who was comeing along Kent stones, with this Inform:^t from the said Rawlinsons house he moved this Informant to throw and cast away the said files hand vice & crucibles and false guineas and further saith not.
