To the R^t Hon^ble the Lords Comm^rs of his Maj^ties Treasury.

May it please yo^r Lord^ps

In obedience to yo^r Lord^ps Order of Reference of May 11^th instant upon the Petition of Iohn Walker, I humbly represent that {{illeg}|D|}^r Iustus Brandshagen received 60^li before his going down into Scotland to survey S^r Iohn Ereskin's Mine, & this was for bearing the charges of his journey into Scotland & back again & some other incident charges there as may appear by yo^r Lord^ps Warrants to the Earl of Halifax dated 5^t Sept. 1716 & 24 Iuly 16 {sic}17 for issuing out moneys upon this service. And that the said Iustus Brandshagen was further paid 129^li for 129 days after the rate of 20^s per diem during his stay in Scotland upon this service & 25^li in discharge of bills for clearing the Mine of rubbish, fitting up a place for making the assays & some other incident charges there. He & Tho. Hamilton left Scotland on Feb 18^th 171 $\frac{6}{7}$ , & he gave in the Report to yo^r Lord^ps concerning the Mine 71 days after, viz^t on April 29 1717. And when he gave in his Accounts to your Lord^ps, which was on May 17^th following, he demanded 20^s per diem for those 71 days; but it was not allowed him, the Princes Warrant limiting that allowance to the time of his stay in Scotland upon the service of the Mine. He received therefore only 214^li. And when I paid him the last part of this summ (w^ch was on Aug. 26, 1717, {sic} he gave me a receipt in full of all accounts.

The 71^li set down by D^r Brandshagen in the first of the three Articles annexed to M^r Walkers Petition, as due to him, was therefore not due to him. And the same is to be understood of the 35^li 10^s set down in the second Article as due to Tho. Hamilton. The 6^li. 18^s in the 3^d Article should be 6^li. 8^s; & this summ hath been already paid to D^r Brandshagen. And I know of nothing more due to them from the crown then what they have already received & given Receipts for in full of their accounts. And therefore if D^r Brandshagen's Executor be indebted to M^r Walker, he is to pay the debt himself.
