To the right Hon^ble. y^e L^ds. Commiss^rs. of his Maj^t^ie^s Trery – the Humble representation of the Officers in the Mint in y^e Tower

Sheweth

That at the setting-up of y^e 5 Country Mints Wee appointed such officers & Clerks as were thought necessary for y^e carrying-on y^e Coynage of those places.

That in pursuance of Y^r. Lo^pps verball Order, We have payd those severall persons such sum̄s of mony as were necessary for erecting y^e severall buildings, paying salaries, & other Incidents of y^e severall Mints out of the mony Imprested to y^e Master & Work^r. for y^e use & service of the Mint.

That being now upon making-up our Acc^ts. Wee find likewise that in Decemb^r. 1696°. Y^r. Lo^p^p^s were pleasd to imprest to the Master & Worker 2000^£s. in tallies of pro. with Y^r. Lo^pp^s verball order to dispose of y^e. same the best Wee could, upon which Wee were then forced to allow 45^Ls. p^r. Cent^m discount, & lost thereby 900^£s.

Wee further presume to lay before Y^r. Lo^p^p^s that y^e. business of y^e Mint upon y^e. extraordinary Coynage having been very great; Wee have not bee able to make an Yearly Acc^t. as y^e Custom was, but are now ready to state the whole together, to this present time, & to pass it in Audit.

Wee therefore humbly beseech Y^r. Lo^p^ps that You would be pleasd to issue out such Warrant to yo^r Auditor of his Maj^t^ie^s Imprest as Y^r. Lo^p^p^s shall think fitt, that Wee may be allowed in our several Acco^ts. y^e severall sum̄s of mony Imprested for y^e Country Mints, y^e 900^Ls lost on y^e 2000^£s tallies of pro. y^e severall summs payd for the buildings & repairs {in}|of| this Mint, & y^t Wee may be admitted to pass the severall yearly Acc^ts. in one, by reason they are so entangled one year with another, y^t it is not possible {d}|to| distinguish them
