<p xml:id="par1"><newtonSymbol xmlns="http://www.newtonproject.sussex.ac.uk/ns/nonTEI" value="skewed parentheses"/> The next three folios represent an attempt after <tei:del xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" type="cancelled"><tei:gap reason="illgblDel" extent="2" unit="chars"/></tei:del> (probably soon after) the publication <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l2"/>of the <tei:hi xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" rend="underline">Chronology</tei:hi> in 1728 to arrange a part of Sir Isaac's papers with a view to <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l3"/>publication. They are probably in the handwriting of John Conduitt. <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l4"/>Only 31 of the 37 sheets referred to can now be identified, but others not mentioned <tei:lb xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="l5"/>have been added to the nucleus.</p>

<tei:p xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="par3">Newton would seem to have digested the <tei:hi rend="underline">Chronology</tei:hi> into a single Chapter <tei:lb xml:id="l6"/>designed to form an Introduction to his larger work. [The pencilled <tei:lb xml:id="l7"/>identifications with parts of the <tei:hi rend="underline">chronology</tei:hi> are by John Conduitt in 1729.]</tei:p>
