Folios – Nucleus of the 'Original of Monarchies.'

The next three folios represent an attempt after (probably soon after) the publication of the Chronology in 1728 to arrange a part of Sir Isaac's papers with a view to publication. They are probably in the handwriting of John Conduitt. Only 31 of the 37 sheets referred to can now be identified, but others not mentioned have been added to the nucleus.

Much in the"The Introductioncorresponds to the Chronology: Chap.1. Of the Chronology of the First Ages." Newton would seem to have digested the Chronology into a single Chapter designed to form an Introduction to his larger work. [The pencilled identifications with parts of the chronology are by John Conduitt in 1729.]
