                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par3">In Obedience to <choice><abbr>yo<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="superscript">ps</hi></abbr><expan>Lordships</expan></choice> Order of reference of the 9<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> nstant upon <lb xml:id="l1"/>the annexed representation of the Gentlemen <del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="medium">o</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">O</add>wners of Tin Lans in <lb xml:id="l2"/>Cornwall to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>L<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>Lord</expan></choice> Warden of the Stannaries wherein they desire <lb xml:id="l3"/>that a Convocation or Parliament or Tinners may be holden before <lb xml:id="l4"/>the determination of the present contract, that proper measures <lb xml:id="l5"/>may be taken to set another on foot <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add>t such price as that her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l6"/>may be no loser thereby, and by <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> such further quantity of Tin <lb xml:id="l7"/>beyond the present stipulation be taken as may prevent the inconve<lb xml:id="l8"/>niences they now labour under upon th<del type="over">is</del><add place="over" indicator="no">at</add> account:</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">We humbly represent to your Lordship that by the course of 
                    <lb xml:id="l9"/>the sale during this and the four last years there will remain at <lb xml:id="l10"/>the end of the present contract a dead stock of Tin <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> at <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">3</add><hi rend="superscript">li</hi> 16<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <lb xml:id="l11"/><choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>cwt</expan></choice> averdupois will be worth about 180000<hi rend="superscript">li</hi>. And that if her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l12"/>contracts for 1600 Tunns of Tin annually at 3<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> 10<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>cwt</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>stan.</abbr><expan>stannary</expan></choice> weight, <lb xml:id="l13"/>without remitting the coinage duty &amp; post groats &amp; this quantity <lb xml:id="l14"/>shall be sold off annually so that the dead stock of 180000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> may <lb xml:id="l15"/>more or less remain the same during all the next contract<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">;</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">:</add> And <lb xml:id="l16"/>if 6 per cent (the interest now paid in Cornwall for moneys ad<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l17"/>vanced to them by her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice>) be allowed upon the dead stock: <lb xml:id="l18"/>the state of the contract will be as follows.</p>

                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par5">In this recconing if 10800<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> should be thought too great an interest upon <lb xml:id="l19"/>dead stock, 1458<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> 18<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> is as much too little for insurance &amp; other acci<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l20"/>dents &amp; unforeseen charges.</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par6">In this &amp; the four last years the sale of the Tin by our accounts <lb xml:id="l21"/>hath at a medium amounted to about 1560 Tunns per <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>stan.</abbr><expan>stannary</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>weight</expan></choice>, <lb xml:id="l22"/>which being deducted from 1600 Tunns received annually from <lb xml:id="l23"/>Cornwall &amp; about 44 Tunns received annually from Devonshire, <lb xml:id="l24"/>leaves 84 Tunns stannary, or 90 Tunns averdupois, the value of <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l25"/>at 76<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> per Tunn is 6840<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>, to be annually added to the dead stock. <lb xml:id="l26"/>And the interest of this addition, if the contract should continue seven <lb xml:id="l27"/>years, amounts to 8618<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi>. 8<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>, besides the loss by the fall of the price in <lb xml:id="l28"/>the end of the contract, <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> would amount to 13860<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or more</add> if the Tin should <lb xml:id="l29"/>then fall for <del type="cancelled">5<gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del> 2<hi rend="superscript">li</hi>. 14<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> per <choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>cwt</expan></choice> averdupois or less, the marke<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>s being <lb xml:id="l30"/>then clogged by the joint sale of the dead stock &amp; the Tin in Cornwall</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par7">Thus the Crown by contracting for 1600 Tunns of Tin <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>a<hi rend="overline">n</hi></abbr><expan>annum</expan></choice> at 3<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> <lb xml:id="l31"/>1<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">6</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">0</add><hi rend="superscript">s</hi> <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>C</abbr><expan>cwt</expan></choice> would lose in the space of seven years 2<del type="over">3</del><add place="over" indicator="no">2</add>478<hi rend="superscript">li</hi> 8<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> or above <lb xml:id="l32"/>&amp; this loss in four years more would be more then doubled</p>

                <p xml:id="par8">We have grownded this recconing upon a supposition that the <lb xml:id="l33"/>sale of the Tin will continue uniform to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> end of this &amp; the <lb xml:id="l34"/>next contract. How much it may increase or decrease by peace <lb xml:id="l35"/>or wars or other causes, we do not know; &amp; without a certainty <lb xml:id="l36"/>can make no estimate of what may be got or lost.</p>
