                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">This <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> says she has lived with M<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>. Mathews about 3 <choice><abbr>q<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</abbr><expan>quarters</expan></choice> of <lb xml:id="l1"/>a year That <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> Iune or Iuly last Chaloner and Carter came <lb xml:id="l2"/>to her <choice><abbr>M<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</abbr><expan>Mistress's</expan></choice> house That Chaloner sent her to Carters <lb xml:id="l3"/>Lodging to getch an oylestone <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> was a short piece of a 
                    <lb xml:id="l4"/>stone as also a litle Bottle of oyle and a Viol of aqua fortis 
                    <lb xml:id="l5"/>which she brought to Chaloner <choice><abbr>yn</abbr><expan>then</expan></choice> he wanted some small Cole 
                    <lb xml:id="l6"/>to be lighted and a bason of clean water <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>.</abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> a cloth which he 
                    <lb xml:id="l7"/>had with him in a room up one pair of stairs where he lockt 
                    <lb xml:id="l8"/>himself in and took out the key Chaloner staid there <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> 2 
                    <lb xml:id="l9"/>hours this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> had the curiousity to look through the Key
                    <lb xml:id="l10"/>hole and saw Chaloner sitting with his back toward <choice><orig/><reg><supplied reason="omitted">her</supplied></reg></choice> <add place="inline" indicator="no">+</add> his face 
                    <lb xml:id="l11"/>towards the Window she thought he was writing but as he 
                    <lb xml:id="l12"/>turned his head asside she <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice>ceived he had something very 
                    <lb xml:id="l13"/>bright lying before him which lookt like a plate and 
                    <lb xml:id="l14"/>She was satisfyed it was a Copper plate <choice><sic>seing</sic><corr>seeing</corr></choice> it afterwards 
                    <lb xml:id="l15"/>in her <choice><abbr>m<hi rend="superscript">rs</hi>.</abbr><expan>mistress's</expan></choice> Trunck. When Chaloner came down staires 
                    <lb xml:id="l16"/>this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> went into the room and upon the Window where 
                    <lb xml:id="l17"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Chaloner sat + she saw a thin shining Dust the same 
                    <lb xml:id="l18"/>Evening Chaloner brought in a piece of Leather and made up a 
                    <lb xml:id="l19"/>Sand Bagg</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">The Plate this Informant saw in her Mistress Trunck 
                    <lb xml:id="l20"/>lookt like a thing that was scratcht the ends lookt like flourishes 
                    <lb xml:id="l21"/>of a letter and in the Midle were some lines scratcht</p>
                
                <p xml:id="par4">The next day the bagg was carry<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">d</hi></orig><reg>ed</reg></choice> away and she supposes the 
                    <lb xml:id="l22"/>Plate <choice><sic>two</sic><corr>too</corr></choice> for she did not see it till <choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> a fortnight or three 
                    <lb xml:id="l23"/>weeks after when Chaloner came againe and want<choice><orig><add place="inline" indicator="no"><hi rend="superscript">d</hi></add></orig><reg>ed</reg></choice> some paper</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par5">This <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> fetcht them a pennyworth of the best writing paper 
                    <lb xml:id="l24"/>Chaloner carr<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</orig><reg>ied</reg></choice> it up into the Room above stairs and askt for 
                    <lb xml:id="l25"/>Scissors and a piece of an earthen Dish and clean woollen raggs 
                    <lb xml:id="l26"/>which had with some clean water and a Napkin Chaloner lock<choice><orig/><reg><supplied reason="omitted">ed</supplied></reg></choice> 
                    <lb xml:id="l27"/>himself up as before giving orders that if any body askt for him 
                    <lb xml:id="l28"/>Carter or her Mistress that the Maid should answer no body 
                    <lb xml:id="l29"/>was at home and not open the Door<choice><orig>–</orig><reg>.</reg></choice> Chaloner was by 
                    <lb xml:id="l30"/>himself Shut up 2 houres and this <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> peeped againe 
                    <lb xml:id="l31"/>through the key hole and saw Chaloner standing at the Window 
                    <lb xml:id="l32"/>with the Earthen Dish by him and the plate before him 
                    <lb xml:id="l33"/>he took the raggs and dipt them in the Dish then he rub<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">d</hi></orig><reg>bed</reg></choice> it over 
                    <lb xml:id="l34"/>the plate and laid some paper atop of it and <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">n</hi></abbr><expan>then</expan></choice> laid so<choice><orig><hi rend="overline">m</hi></orig><reg>me</reg></choice>thing 
                    <lb xml:id="l35"/>over the paper which lookt whitish like Flannell but she 
                    <lb xml:id="l36"/>could <choice><orig/><reg><supplied reason="omitted">not</supplied></reg></choice> tell what it was then she thinks he turned it

                    <lb xml:id="l38"/>This <choice><abbr>Inform<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Informant</expan></choice> peep<choice><orig><hi rend="superscript">d</hi></orig><reg>ed</reg></choice> near <formula><math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mfrac><mn>1</mn><mn>2</mn></mfrac></math></formula> an hour then went up stairs

                    <tei:lb xml:id="l41"/>into it and saw the Window all daubed only where the plate 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l42"/>lay that place was clean, in the earthen Dish was <tei:unclear reason="hand" cert="medium">ogle</tei:unclear> and 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l43"/>Blacking and the ragg left in it she put the Dish up in a 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l44"/>Closset and it so still to be seen as it <tei:del type="strikethrough">is</tei:del><tei:add place="supralinear" indicator="no">was</tei:add> left</tei:p>
                
                <tei:p xmlns:tei="http://www.tei-c.org/ns/1.0" xml:id="par7"><tei:choice><tei:abbr>Abo<tei:hi rend="superscript">t</tei:hi>.</tei:abbr><tei:expan>About</tei:expan></tei:choice> a week after <tei:choice><tei:abbr>y<tei:hi rend="superscript">t</tei:hi>.</tei:abbr><tei:expan>that</tei:expan></tei:choice> Chaloner gave her mistress a paper 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l45"/>with some thing in it which she put into a Trunck that did 
                    <tei:lb xml:id="l46"/>not shut close this <tei:choice><tei:abbr>Inform<tei:hi rend="superscript">t</tei:hi>.</tei:abbr><tei:expan>Informant</tei:expan></tei:choice> open<tei:choice><tei:orig><tei:hi rend="superscript">d</tei:hi></tei:orig><tei:reg>ed</tei:reg></tei:choice> the Trunk as soon as Chaloner
