The Informaction of IJohn Peers taken upon Oath yethe 18th. day of May 1697

That he does know one Ioyce Hanbury who lives within Ludgate in Green lane a Lodger at Mr Newberries who has told this Informt.Informant ytthat one IJohn Doin ytthat lives at Waltham who pretends to be husband to woman lodging in the same house a Chandler ytthat is Confederate wthwith Counterfeitrs.Counterfeiters of the Currt.Current Coyn of this Kingdom and yt.that the sdsaid Ioyce did ask this Informt.Informant to make an Edging Tool, that he did see in William Chaloner's Brother Ioseph Grosvenrs house Cutters and Tooles Instrumts.Instruments propper for coyning only with wchwhich this InformtInformant did see the said Grosvenr. actually counterfeit a Milld Shilling at his house an oyle shop in Beauford Buildings in a Fore Garret abot.about five or 6 weeks at the furthest since and this InformtInformant sayes ytthat he carrydcarryed divers Tooles necessary for making the said Engine to the said Grosvenr. but could not get ymthem from him since and ytthat he promised this Informt.Informant should be employed so as to get a great deal of money in a short time and that the said Chaloner did tell the said Grosvenr ytthat if he did not deliver to him the said Edger Engines or Cutters he would have him in a Proclamation abot.about a Fortnight since at Clark's the Flask Tavern agt.against the Mewes And further that he hath heartd the said Chaloner often say and ꝑparticularly within these 3 weeks that he had fund the Lords of the Treasury and the King out of 1000ll. and that he would not leave the Parliamt.Parliament till he had fund them likewise which this InformtInformant understood to be deceiving them
