                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">Honoured <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice></p>
                
                <p xml:id="par3">As we suspected, M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Masons whole business has <lb xml:id="l1"/>been to endeavour <hi rend="bold">the restitution of M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Lewis</hi>, <lb xml:id="l2"/>of whose misdemeanour I gave you an account <lb xml:id="l3"/>in my last; if you think fitting to deprive him, <lb xml:id="l4"/>as I suppose you will, M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Grevall with the assistance <lb xml:id="l5"/>he shall have, will be well able to do his business; <lb xml:id="l6"/>if you think fitting to bestow on him such a favour. <lb xml:id="l7"/>M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Mason was something concerned, and often reported <lb xml:id="l8"/>it, that the Warden ought not to suspend his Cl<unclear reason="hand"><del type="over">a</del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add></unclear>rk <lb xml:id="l9"/>without his participation, he being then in Town: <lb xml:id="l10"/>to which was answered, that <choice><sic><add place="inline" indicator="no">t</add></sic><corr type="noText"/></choice>he <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes"><del type="cancelled">Warden</del></add> conce<unclear reason="hand">iv</unclear>ed the <lb xml:id="l11"/>Warden to be proper Iudge in all Controversies <lb xml:id="l12"/>in the Mint, especially where so high an Indig<lb xml:id="l13"/>nity was offered to his person; and if he had thought <lb xml:id="l14"/>there had been any colour of excuse, he would not <lb xml:id="l15"/>have proceeded against <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="4"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">Lewis</add> without acquainting him: <lb xml:id="l16"/><choice><sic>he</sic><corr type="delText">he</corr></choice><add place="lineBeginning supralinear" indicator="yes">M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Mason</add> declared he thought himself to have power to <lb xml:id="l17"/>vacate the suspension, but would not meddle with <lb xml:id="l18"/>it, because it lay before our superiour officers, and <lb xml:id="l19"/>expressd his dissatisfaction, that the advantages this <lb xml:id="l20"/>accident has given us, now not all thrown away upon <lb xml:id="l21"/>his intercession: this day he intends to go out of town, <lb xml:id="l22"/>and soon for London as he said: How he will represent <lb xml:id="l23"/>his treatment here I know not, but I am sure he <lb xml:id="l24"/>has hall all the respect we were capable of showing
