                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par2">I have been close Prisoner 11 weeks and no friend <choice><abbr>suffer<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>suffered</expan></choice> to come near <lb xml:id="l1"/>me but my litle child I am not guilty of any Crime and why am I so strictly <lb xml:id="l2"/>confined I do not know. I doubt <choice><abbr>S<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Sir</expan></choice> You are greatly displeased with me <lb xml:id="l3"/><choice><abbr>abo<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>about</expan></choice> the <add place="supralinear" indicator="no">late</add> buissines in <choice><abbr>Parliam<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Parliament</expan></choice> but if you knew the truth you <lb xml:id="l4"/>would not be angery with me for it was brought in by some <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice>sons <lb xml:id="l5"/><choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> my desire</p>

                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par8">In obedience to your <choice><abbr><hi rend="overline">Worpp</hi></abbr><expan>Worshipp</expan></choice> I will give you the best <lb xml:id="l10"/><choice><abbr>acco<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>account</expan></choice> I cann<del type="cancelled">not</del> remember</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par9">I never was concerned with any but Gravener Coffee + Hitchcock <lb xml:id="l11"/>they desired me to get Taylor to make some stamps which I gave to <lb xml:id="l12"/>and for that service I was allowed a share they made <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l13"/>Pistols some hundreds of them one Blackford put most <lb xml:id="l14"/>of them away <choice><orig>Graven<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></orig><expan>Gravener</expan></choice> drove a great Trade in Clipping and <lb xml:id="l15"/>Coyning and kept many at work for him as abbot <lb xml:id="l16"/>Peck <unclear reason="hand" cert="low">Vnc<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></unclear> Collins who now belongs to one of the Mints <lb xml:id="l17"/>I think Chester he used to clip and coyn a 1000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">l</hi></hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> week <lb xml:id="l18"/>he was prentice to M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Tylor at the ship in Grace Church <lb xml:id="l19"/>street a Goldsmith and most part of his apprent<unclear reason="hand">e</unclear>ship he <lb xml:id="l20"/>used to clip Spanish pieces of Eight for him and other money <lb xml:id="l21"/>Sherriff Sweetaple is brother in Law to Tylor as I <lb xml:id="l22"/>remember and <choice><orig>Graven<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></orig><expan>Gravener</expan></choice>. used to have the mony <pb xml:id="p065v" n="65v"/> to clip from Tylor to clip for Sweetaple one Monger in <lb xml:id="l23"/>Lumbard street he used to work for also these men kept <lb xml:id="l24"/>him in work at clipping and taking off what false money he <lb xml:id="l25"/>could make himself and get from other they gave him <lb xml:id="l26"/>money to set up with and took for him a Great Jewe's <lb xml:id="l27"/>house in mark Lane had it made all with Iron barrs <lb xml:id="l28"/>and very strong Door on the staires strengthened <lb xml:id="l29"/>with Iron and another to the Garrett so that no men <lb xml:id="l30"/>could not get in under an hour he having allways a <lb xml:id="l31"/>Furnace hot to melt down all and now <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">n</hi>.</abbr><expan>when</expan></choice> he was <lb xml:id="l32"/>going to work it was for these men he also worked <lb xml:id="l33"/>for Blower <choice><abbr>Mast<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>Master</expan></choice> of the Kings Bench. Now I knew <lb xml:id="l34"/>of all these thinks he being my brother but I did not <lb xml:id="l35"/>act but he allowed me 40<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> a week not to desire to go <lb xml:id="l36"/>share with him he used to deal with one <unclear reason="hand" cert="low">Meser</unclear> <lb xml:id="l37"/>and one Cooms and one Thomas Wooll <choice><abbr>Merch<hi rend="superscript">ts</hi>.</abbr><expan>Merchants</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l38"/>in the countrey I hear that these <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice>sons are carrying on <lb xml:id="l39"/>a great Coyning Trade now Abbot swore false <choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> me <lb xml:id="l40"/>to send me out of the world that he might go on <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l41"/>the Goldsmiths as he used to do that is when silver is <lb xml:id="l42"/>under 5<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> 2<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> <choice><orig>ꝑ</orig><reg>per</reg></choice> ounce to buy up all the silver in the Tower <lb xml:id="l43"/>for the Great Goldsmiths and <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">n</hi>.</abbr><expan>when</expan></choice> silver was above the <lb xml:id="l44"/>Price of 5<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. + 2<hi rend="superscript"><del type="over"><unclear reason="over" cert="low">s</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">d</add></hi>. he used to melt down the Milld <lb xml:id="l45"/>money when silver was at 6<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> or 6<hi rend="superscript">s</hi>. &amp; 6<hi rend="superscript">d</hi> he melted <lb xml:id="l46"/>down 50000<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> of Mill'd money and this Trade he would <lb xml:id="l47"/>follow as he has said many a times but that I should <lb xml:id="l48"/>discover him. There is one M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. Packer that was a great <lb xml:id="l49"/>Dealer with <choice><sic>with</sic><corr type="noText">with</corr></choice> Graven<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. and one Timothy <unclear reason="hand" cert="high">h</unclear>alet a <lb xml:id="l50"/>Tellor in the Bank of England There was a great many <lb xml:id="l51"/><choice><sic>many</sic><corr type="noText"/></choice> more but I have not time to give you a whole <choice><abbr>acco<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>account</expan></choice> of <lb xml:id="l52"/>but I should be glad to do any service to the <choice><abbr>Governm<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l53"/>is in my power</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par10">I have sent the Plate as I cut it and if I intended to have <lb xml:id="l54"/>any thing to do in counterfeiting of Malt Tickets then I <lb xml:id="l55"/>desire God Allmighty may never receive my soul</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par11">But I understand by Carter that Davis gave Carter a <lb xml:id="l56"/>Ticket to do it by and then goes to the <choice><abbr>Governm<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> and <lb xml:id="l57"/>discovers that such a thing was going and got money to <lb xml:id="l58"/>make a further discovery now Carter in a fright <pb xml:id="p066r" n="66r"/> having it with me and I cutting it put him out of his making a great <lb xml:id="l59"/>Plott of it so that it may plane appear to any Impartiall man that <lb xml:id="l60"/>Davis made this Plott to get money out of the <choice><abbr>Governm<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> because he <lb xml:id="l61"/>gave Carter the bill to grave it by as Carter told me when I was in <lb xml:id="l62"/>Newgate with him I askt him why he said I graved why said he <lb xml:id="l63"/>you knew I had stood in the Pillory and my evidence not be <lb xml:id="l64"/>taken so you need not brought this Outlawry <choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> me but I <lb xml:id="l65"/>shall be too hard for said he and so he has for I am <choice><abbr>murder<hi rend="superscript">d</hi>.</abbr><expan>murdered</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l66"/>by this <choice><abbr>wick<hi rend="superscript">d</hi></abbr><expan>wicked</expan></choice> woman Davis comes to Newgate to Carter <lb xml:id="l67"/>very often and bids him stand to <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>what</expan></choice> he has said and said if we <lb xml:id="l68"/>can hang Chaloner I shall get 500<hi rend="superscript"><hi rend="overline">li</hi></hi> of the <choice><abbr>Governm<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> is so imposed on by <lb xml:id="l69"/>Davis he stood in the Pillory in the countrey for laying <lb xml:id="l70"/>clippings in a man's house and then came to search and got <lb xml:id="l71"/>money of the men Carter a litle while ago hyred a man swear <lb xml:id="l72"/>false <choice><abbr>ag<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>against</expan></choice> one <del type="strikethrough">Reed</del><add place="supralinear" indicator="no"><unclear reason="hand" cert="low">Need</unclear></add> for a robbery which was proved and the Court <lb xml:id="l73"/>acquit him I have been guilty of no Crime these 6 years as I <lb xml:id="l74"/>desire to see God so that if I die I am murthered or I desire God <lb xml:id="l75"/>Allmighty to shew me no mercy so that I beg for God allmighty's <lb xml:id="l76"/>sake you will not let me be murthered</p>
                
                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par12">I can planely make that these Ticket buissines is a piece of <lb xml:id="l77"/>roguery and forgery of Davis himself to get money out <lb xml:id="l78"/>of the <choice><abbr>Governm<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Government</expan></choice> a Plot made by himself <lb xml:id="l79"/><unclear reason="hand" cert="medium">like</unclear> or Robison <choice><sic>d<unclear reason="hand">e</unclear>d</sic><corr>did</corr></choice> latly only to get money</p>

                <p rend="indent0" xml:id="par17">I remember I have said to you that I understand graving but <lb xml:id="l80"/>what ever I have said no man in the world can say I can or could <lb xml:id="l81"/>grave flatt stitch I can chase a litle but what I may have <unclear reason="hand" cert="high">writt</unclear> or <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>what</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l82"/>Sence you may take it in I do not know but I never graved <lb xml:id="l83"/>a letter of flatt stitch no otherwise but to play the fool with a Graver <lb xml:id="l84"/>as any man may do since if I could some body would know it This is <lb xml:id="l85"/>true a I desire to see God Allmighty I remember I said to you once <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l86"/>allthough I can grave and coyn I do not but it was but in <unclear reason="hand" cert="low">jest</unclear> or all <lb xml:id="l87"/>speaking because I know the wayes of graving stamps from <lb xml:id="l88"/>Taylor but pray examin Taylor if I can do any thing in <pb xml:id="p067v" n="67v"/><note type="editorial">f. 66v and 67r are both blank.</note> flatt stitch and if I did not lately employ him to greave a Tobacco Plate <lb xml:id="l89"/>for God Allmighty's sake do not take notions and suggestions for <lb xml:id="l90"/>reall Truths.
