In obedience to yoryour LordpsLordships Order of Reference of 9 March last of ofupon the Bills of Mr Robt Weddael wthwith the in for prosecuting coyners during the sphace of about 2019 months ending last Christmas was a twelve month, totgether wthwith& upon yethe memorial of the Warden of the Mint thereuponconcerning the same: We have considered the services alledged to be done & examined the reasonableness of the said Bills, & humbly represent to your LordpsLordships that the services so far as we can find were usually done, & allowing to Mr Weddel for travelling charges to Mr Weddel 6d prper mile, 12s perer Post-stage & 15ds per day abroad, (as was allowed by the late Lord Treasurer & by the late Lords CommrsCommissioners of yethe TrearyTreasury) & to the men who assisted him in apprehending & prosecuting fals coyners & putter. those that putt off their counterfeit moneys thecriminals 6s 6d per pr day for each man & horse during their journeys: the bill amounts to 321?0.li. 01s. 06 wchwhich we think reasonable, besides such incident charges as admitt of no vouchchers.

These incident charges are fees of Council & Court charges upon trials of persons accused (vizt for indictments, swearing witnesses, attending wthwith records &c) amounting to about 62li. 10s. & allowance of meat & drink to witnesses during their attendance on the prosecutions, & pocket expences in apprehending & examining people accused & in attending on Iudges & Iustices of the peace & paying for their Warrants & for stationary ware & post Letters: for all wchwhich the sum of about 139li. 13s. 8d is set down set down being set down in the Bill amounts to in several articles amount into yethe sum about 139 13 8 amount further to about 7768. 3. 8. more. And considering that Mr Weddel has advanced about one half of this Bill the money set down in this bill out of his own pocket without interest for carrying on the prosecutions, & & was a very good prosecutor & that the charges of receiving the monedy due upon the bill are not set down in the Bill: [We are humbly of opinion that the Bill be allowed amounting in the whole to 467li. 15s. 2 be allowed.] & that if Prosecutors be discouraged they will may be induced to pay themselves by taking money of persons criminals to let them escape: We are humbly of opinion that the Bill amounting in the whole to 467li. 15s. 2d be allowed.

All wchwhich &c

the articles of travelling charges will amount unto 186li. 12s. 6d wchwhich wthwith other articles Mr Weddels salary, a Bill of Mr Fords, the fees of receiving the lost money allowed upon the last account, & the charges of a law suit wthwith a Coyner, make um the summe of ~ 3337l. 1s. 6d wchwhich we humbly think reasonable to be allowed.

That there are other charges wchwhich admit of not vouchers or examinations whereof the fees of Council & other Court charges fees & charges upon the trials of persons (vizt for IndictmtsIndictments, swearing of witnesses, attending wthwith Records &c) amount unto abutabout 62li. 10s. 0d. And these charges being necessary, & being we are humbly of opinion that the Prosecutors Account of them (where nothings appears to yethe contraryfals or unreasonable) should be accepted. A And further, the mainstenance of witnesses during their attenAndance or cCourts of justice, & pocket expences in apprehending & prosecuting & examining people accused & in attending or courts of justice Iudges & Iustices of the peace & paying for their warrants & for stationary ware & Post letters amount further unto 6 about 68li. 3s. 8d.

But considering that Mr Weddel has about one half of the money set down in Mr Weddels bill hath been advanced out of his own pocket without interest for carrying on the prosecutions & ytthat the charges of receiving the money due upon the Bill are not set down in the bill both wchwhich may amount to above 40li., & that Mr Weddel was a very good prosecutor & if Prosecutors be discouraged they may be induced to pay themselves by taking money for favouring or protesting coyners: We are
