    <p xml:id="par1">The Warden of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint represented to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Hon<hi rend="superscript">ble</hi></abbr><expan>Honourable</expan></choice> Committee that what <lb xml:id="l1"/>past between M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Harris M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Morris Peers &amp; Iustice Negus was three months <lb xml:id="l2"/>before he knew any thing of their matters. And yet in the Report <lb xml:id="l3"/>these things are mixed with what was done under his management <lb xml:id="l4"/>as if he had been concerned in the whole.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par2">Peers represented to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Hon<hi rend="superscript">ble</hi></abbr><expan>Honourable</expan></choice> Committee that when he came <lb xml:id="l5"/>first to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden of the Mint <del type="blockStrikethrough"><add place="inline" indicator="no">[</add><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> was Aug. 13<add place="inline" indicator="no">]</add></del> he told the Warden <lb xml:id="l6"/>that he &amp; <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Holloway &amp; Yarberry had coyned about 20<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> at Egham <lb xml:id="l7"/>in Surrey by Morrises directiosn to draw in Chaloner. The Warden <lb xml:id="l8"/>denyed that Peers told him of any such directions or design to draw <lb xml:id="l9"/>him in. That money was coyned three weeks or a month before <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l10"/>Warden knew any thing of their matters as <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden can shew by <lb xml:id="l11"/>an Information of Peers then made. And yet in the Report Peers <lb xml:id="l12"/>makes that money coyned after he came to the Warden &amp; the <lb xml:id="l13"/>Warden privy &amp; consenting to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> coyning thereof to draw Chaloner in</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par3">M<hi rend="superscript">ris</hi> Collingwood who brought Peers the first time viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> Aug. 13 <lb xml:id="l14"/>to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden, deposed before <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>H.</abbr><expan>High</expan></choice> Committee that the Warden did <lb xml:id="l15"/>then caution Peers against drawing in <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">or tempting</add> any body &amp; <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> Peers made <lb xml:id="l16"/>Answer that there was no need to draw them in for they (viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> <lb xml:id="l17"/>the Holloways) were so forward that they were for hi<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">r</add>ing horses <lb xml:id="l18"/>&amp; riding them out of town &amp; selling them abroa<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">d</add> to make a stock <lb xml:id="l19"/>to go to coyn with. But in the Report all this is omitted &amp; M<hi rend="superscript">ris</hi> <lb xml:id="l20"/>Collingwood on <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> contrary represents the Warden for drawing Chaloner <lb xml:id="l21"/>in.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par4">To make out a confederacy of the Mint against Chaloner<add place="inline" indicator="no">,</add> <del type="cancelled">Peers</del> <lb xml:id="l22"/>&amp; that some of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint gave Privilege to coyn false money Peers <lb xml:id="l23"/><del type="strikethrough">make</del> calls Morris a Messenger of the Mint &amp; yet Morris was no way <lb xml:id="l24"/>related to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint till Dec. 15 when the Prosecution of Chaloner <lb xml:id="l25"/>was over. Chaloner has not proved that any two men of the Mint <lb xml:id="l26"/>were confederate or ever consulted together against him. And tho <lb xml:id="l27"/>some of the Mint were offended at him, yet it was for libelling them <lb xml:id="l28"/>in print.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5">The Warden repres<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="2"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">en</add>ted that all he did against Chaloner or in <lb xml:id="l29"/>favour of Peers was to put a stop to a <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">n</add>ew &amp; dangerous way of coyning <lb xml:id="l30"/>&amp;c but this scarce in the Report.</p>
