    <p xml:id="par1">The Warden of the Mint represented to the <choice><abbr>Hon<hi rend="superscript">ble</hi></abbr><expan>Honourable</expan></choice> Committ<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add>e <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l1"/>what past between M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Harris M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Morris Peers &amp; Iustice Negus was three <lb xml:id="l2"/>months before he knew any thing of their matters. And yet in the <lb xml:id="l3"/>Report those things are mixed with what was done under his ma<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l4"/>nagement as if he had been concerned in the whole.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par2">Peers represented to the <choice><abbr>Hon<hi rend="superscript">ble</hi></abbr><expan>Honourable</expan></choice> Committee that when he <lb xml:id="l5"/>came first to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden <del type="blockStrikethrough"><add place="inline" indicator="no">[</add><choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">ch</hi></abbr><expan>which</expan></choice> was Aug. 13<add place="inline" indicator="no">]</add></del> he told <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l6"/>he &amp; <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Holloway &amp; Yardbury had coyned about 20<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> after Chaloners <lb xml:id="l7"/>new way, at Egham in Surrey by Morris's directions to draw in <lb xml:id="l8"/>Chaloner. The Warden denyed that Peers told him of any such <lb xml:id="l9"/>directions or designe to draw Chaloner in. That money was <lb xml:id="l10"/>coyned three weeks or a month before the Warden kne<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">w</add> any <lb xml:id="l11"/>thing of their matters as the Warden can shew by an Informa<lb xml:id="l12"/>tion of Peers then made. And yet in the Report Peers makes <lb xml:id="l13"/>that money coyned after he came to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden &amp; the Warden <lb xml:id="l14"/>privy &amp; consenting to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> coyning thereof to draw in Chaloner.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par3">M<hi rend="superscript">ris</hi> Collingwood who brought Peers the first time viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> Aug. 13 <lb xml:id="l15"/>to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden, deposed before the <choice><abbr>Hon.</abbr><expan>Honourable</expan></choice> Committe that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden <lb xml:id="l16"/>did then caution Peers against drawing in or tempting any body <lb xml:id="l17"/>&amp; that Peers made Answer that there was no need to draw <del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">in</unclear></del> <lb xml:id="l18"/><del type="strikethrough">any body</del> them in, for they (viz<hi rend="superscript">t</hi> the Holloways) were so forward <lb xml:id="l19"/>that they were for hiring horses &amp; riding them out of town <lb xml:id="l20"/>&amp; selling them abroad to make a stock to go to coyn with. But <lb xml:id="l21"/>in the Report all this is omitted &amp; she on <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> contrary <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">sums to</add> repre<lb xml:id="l22"/>sen<del type="cancelled">s</del> the Warden for drawing Chaloner in.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par4">To make out a confederacy of the Mint against Chaloner <lb xml:id="l23"/>&amp; <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> some of them gave Privilege to coyn false money, Peers <lb xml:id="l24"/>calls Morris a Messenger of the Mint &amp; yet Morris was no <lb xml:id="l25"/>way related to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Mint till Dec. 15 when the Prosecution of <lb xml:id="l26"/>Chaloner was over. Chaloner has not proved that any two of <lb xml:id="l27"/>the Mint conspired or consulted together against him.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5">The history of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Wardens proceedings <del type="cancelled">(as he told <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice></del> <lb xml:id="l28"/>is, that about 3 months after what past <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice>out his knowledge <lb xml:id="l29"/>between <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">M</add><hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Harris, M<hi rend="superscript">r</hi> Morris Peers &amp; Iustice Negus &amp; about three <lb xml:id="l30"/>weeks after <del type="strikethrough">what past</del> the coyning of the 20<hi rend="superscript">s</hi> at Egham, he was <lb xml:id="l31"/>sent for to the Secretaries Office to examin a man about a new <lb xml:id="l32"/>&amp; dangerous way of coyning, that upon examination he found it was <lb xml:id="l33"/>reputed Chaloners invention &amp; scarce known fruther then to Gravener

        Peers &amp; the Holloways, that to put a stop to it he sent for Peers <lb xml:id="l34"/>took his Affidavit against Holloway &amp; others Aug 13 &amp; imployed him <lb xml:id="l35"/>to find out &amp; discover the designes &amp; practises of the rest that he <lb xml:id="l36"/>might take them all up, that about tenn days after <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Holloway <lb xml:id="l37"/>having notice that they were sett by Peers, trickt Peers into Prison <lb xml:id="l38"/>&amp; the Warden bailed <del type="strikethrough">out Peers</del> him &amp; took up the Holloways to <lb xml:id="l39"/>examin them &amp; upon Tho. Holloways Discovery committed Chaloner <lb xml:id="l40"/>that Chaloner by his Agents bought off Tho. Holloway &amp; sent him <lb xml:id="l41"/>into scotland &amp; after the sessions gott ff two other witnesses Peers <lb xml:id="l42"/>&amp; <choice><orig>I</orig><reg>J</reg></choice>ohn Holloway &amp; got them sworn against the King &amp; making <lb xml:id="l43"/>a confederacy against the Warden tempted Hanwell to come into it</p>
