    <p xml:id="par1">Pallas directing a javelin <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">a</add>t Briareus with this motto, <foreign xml:lang="lat">Vicem <lb xml:id="l1"/>geit ill Tonatis</foreign>, She succeeds <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Thunderer. Thunder signifies warr <lb xml:id="l2"/>( Sam 2. 10 &amp; 7. 10) &amp; <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Thunderer is here the late King William who <lb xml:id="l3"/>in his coronation medal was represented by Iupiter with a thunderbolt <lb xml:id="l4"/>in his hand, &amp; in respect of the warrs he was ingaged in during the <lb xml:id="l5"/>whole course of his life may be fitly called a Thunder<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">e</add>r that <lb xml:id="l6"/>is a Warrior. The Giant with many heads &amp; hands s<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">i</add>gnifies not a <lb xml:id="l7"/>single person but a body politic &amp; may represent any kingdom <lb xml:id="l8"/>principality nation people or body of men <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> whom her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l9"/>hath or may have warr. The <del type="strikethrough">device alludes to</del> <add place="supralinear" indicator="yes">device alludes to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> ancient warr of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Golds &amp; Giants. For</add> <add place="inline" indicator="no"><choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice></add> Egyptians com<lb type="hyphenated" xml:id="l10"/>memorating the oldest of their warrs represented their Ancestors <del type="cancelled">by <lb xml:id="l11"/>Gold</del> in those warrs by Gods &amp; their enemies by Giants invading <lb xml:id="l12"/>heaven, &amp; <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Giants they painted <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> many heads &amp; hands to signify <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l13"/>they were not single persons but bodies poli<del type="over"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">c</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">t</add>ic. <del type="cancelled">When</del> Iupiter they <lb xml:id="l14"/>represented thundering against the Giants &amp; when he was weary <lb xml:id="l15"/>Pallas came in &amp; carried on the warr according to <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">t</hi></abbr><expan>that</expan></choice> Motto, <foreign xml:lang="lat">Vicem <lb xml:id="l16"/>geit illa Tonantis</foreign>. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par2">A Pallas armed with this Motto <foreign xml:lang="lat">Virtute et Consilio</foreign>. The <lb xml:id="l17"/>answer denotes the present warlike preparations &amp; the Mott<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">o</add> alludes <lb xml:id="l18"/>to the valour &amp; wisdom of Pallas &amp; signifies the great power <lb xml:id="l19"/>&amp; wise counsels of her Majesty. <space dim="vertical" unit="lines" extent="1"/></p>
    
    <p xml:id="par3">Virgils metallic Tree with a bran<del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">c</add>h &amp; this motto <lb xml:id="l20"/><foreign xml:lang="lat">Non deficit alter</foreign>. The Tree is an embleme of a kingdome <lb xml:id="l21"/>(Ezek 17 &amp; 31) &amp; the principal branch is the <del type="over"><gap reason="illgblDel" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">K</add>ing or Queen <lb xml:id="l22"/>(Ezek 19. 11, 12, 14) &amp; the springing out of a new golden branch <lb xml:id="l23"/>as often as the old one is cropt off is a type of a lasting <lb xml:id="l24"/>Monarchy.</p>
