There is, however, a similar but considerably longer request from the Mint Board to the Treasury, also mentioning trial pieces and details of the Edinburgh master's indenture, in Mint 1/8, p. 143, dated 2 June 1707.]</p>

                <p xml:id="par2">An Order of her <choice><abbr>Ma<hi rend="superscript">ty</hi></abbr><expan>Majesty</expan></choice> or Coun<del type="over">se</del><add place="over" indicator="no">ci</add>l is humbly desired, that <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> Warden o<del type="over">r</del><add place="over" indicator="no">f</add> <lb xml:id="l1"/>her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint i<del type="over"><unclear reason="over" cert="low">s</unclear></del><add place="over" indicator="no">n</add> the Tower do forthwith make or cause to be made <lb xml:id="l2"/>two Piles of Troy weight of great Britain, in the most exact &amp; perfect <lb xml:id="l3"/>manner that by his endeavours can be done, &amp; that the greater &amp; smaller <lb xml:id="l4"/>weights of the said two Piles be made &amp; framed proportionable thereunto, &amp; <lb xml:id="l5"/>that they be examined <del type="strikethrough">&amp; stamped <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> the date</del> &amp; printed with a Rose &amp; Thistle <lb xml:id="l6"/>standing upon one common stalk &amp; crowned <choice><abbr>w<hi rend="superscript">th</hi></abbr><expan>with</expan></choice> one common crown &amp; the <lb xml:id="l7"/>date stamped upon them, in the presence of the Officers of her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l8"/>Mint in the Tower, &amp; that one of the said Piles be then delivered by <lb xml:id="l9"/>the said Warden to the Order of the Lord High Treasurer to be <lb xml:id="l10"/>carried to her <choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Mint at Edin<del type="over"><gap reason="over" unit="chars" extent="1"/></del><add place="over" indicator="no">b</add>orough &amp; there to remain with her <lb xml:id="l11"/><choice><abbr>Maj<hi rend="superscript">ties</hi></abbr><expan>Majesties</expan></choice> Officers of the said Mint, to the end that other weights of <lb xml:id="l12"/>Troy may be there made conformable unto them, &amp; the other of the <lb xml:id="l13"/>said piles to remain with<del type="cancelled"><unclear reason="del" cert="low">in</unclear></del> the Warden or Wardens for the time being <lb xml:id="l14"/>within the said Tower of London.</p>
