    <p xml:id="par3"><hi rend="largest">In</hi> <hi rend="large">obedience</hi> to <hi rend="large"><choice><abbr>Y<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lord<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">pps</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Lordshipps</expan></choice></hi> <lb xml:id="l3"/>Order of Reference of the 6<hi rend="superscript">th</hi>. of Octob<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>. last, Wee have <lb xml:id="l4"/>considerd the annexed Petition: and humbly represent to <lb xml:id="l5"/><hi rend="large"><choice><abbr>Y<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">pp</hi></hi><hi rend="superscript">s</hi></abbr><expan>Lordshipps</expan></choice></hi>, that the Wardens 2 Clerks, the Masters 3 <lb xml:id="l6"/>Clerks, the Comptrolers Clerk, and the Clerk to the King's <lb xml:id="l7"/>chief Clerk have but 40<hi rend="superscript">Ls</hi> <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>A<hi rend="overline">n.</hi></abbr><expan>Annum</expan></choice> salary each, without any <lb xml:id="l8"/>fees or perquisites whatever, which Wee humbly conceive <lb xml:id="l9"/>to be insufficient for their maintenance.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par4">Wee also beg leave further to represent <lb xml:id="l10"/>to <choice><abbr>Y<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>Your</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Lo<hi rend="superscript">p</hi><hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">p</hi></hi><hi rend="superscript">s</hi></abbr><expan>Lordshipps</expan></choice> that diverse Ledgers, &amp; other books must be <lb xml:id="l11"/>transcrib'd; which, with the ordinary business of the <lb xml:id="l12"/><hi rend="large">Mint</hi>, will require severall years to complete them <lb xml:id="l13"/>And that the Assay-masters Clerk has but 20<hi rend="superscript">Ls</hi>. <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi></abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Ann<hi rend="underline"><hi rend="superscript">m</hi></hi></abbr><expan>Annum</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l14"/>and the Surveyor's Clerk but 10<hi rend="superscript">Ls</hi>. <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>Ann<hi rend="superscript">m</hi>.</abbr><expan>Annum</expan></choice> altho' the latter <lb xml:id="l15"/>has a new duty impos'd upon him, to attend the sinking of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l16"/><hi rend="large">dies</hi>, &amp; to keep an <choice><abbr>Acc<hi rend="superscript">t</hi>.</abbr><expan>Account</expan></choice> thereof; yet has no consideration for <lb xml:id="l17"/>that service.</p>
    
    <p xml:id="par5"><hi rend="larger">Wee</hi> <hi rend="large">are therefore</hi> humbly of opinion <lb xml:id="l18"/>that the Clerks to the Assay-master, &amp; Surveyor of <choice><abbr>y<hi rend="superscript">e</hi></abbr><expan>the</expan></choice> meltings <lb xml:id="l19"/>may very well deserve an Augmentation of 10<hi rend="superscript">Ls</hi> <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> Annum <lb xml:id="l20"/>And the abovementioned Clerks an Augmentation of 20<hi rend="superscript">Ls</hi> <choice><abbr>p<hi rend="superscript">r</hi>.</abbr><expan>per</expan></choice> <choice><abbr>A<hi rend="overline">n</hi>.</abbr><expan>Annum</expan></choice> <lb xml:id="l21"/>each, to their present salaries; their attendance at the Mint <lb xml:id="l22"/>being incompatible with any other business; and there being <lb xml:id="l23"/>to our certain knowledge, great diligence &amp; care requird of <lb xml:id="l24"/>them, &amp; no manner of proffitts or perquisites besides the bare <lb xml:id="l25"/>salaries.</p>
