Whereas Our late Royal Sister Queen Anne for the better
Exercise of the Art of Graving, and that the Gravers of Her Mint might not
lose the skill they had acquired, the Improvement of which would be the best
security of the Coine of Her Kingdome Did by Warrant under Her Royal Sign
Mannual bearing date the second day of November 1706 Impower the
Master and Worker of Her Mint for the time being to give leave to the said
Gravers or any of them to make and sell such Medalls of Fine Gold and fine
silver as did not relate to state affairs And that upon such Medals as
be made for rewarding persons for their good services to Impress the service
for which the said Medalls are given with the Date, And did thereby also
Impower, the Warden, Master and Worker, and Comptroller of Her Mint for the
time being to direct and Require the said Gravers and every of them to make
such other Medals of fine Gold, fine Silver and fine Copper with plaine
Historical Designs and Inscrip
be approved by the said Warden, Master and Worker and Comptroller And to
make Embossements puncheons Dyes and other Instruments requisite
for Coining the same according to such orders as they or any of them
respectively should from time to time receive from the Master & Worker
of the said Mint and not otherwise, which said Warrant being by the Demise
of Our said late Royal sister become void, the mrsry
laid before Vs your Memorial desiring the same may be renewed, That
the Gravers may improve their hands in the manner aforesaid when the
are not employed about Our Coine; We taking the Premises into Our
Royal Consideration are Graciously pleased to Approve thereof, And
Accordingly Our Will and pleasure is And We do hereby Authorise and
Impower you the Master and Worker of Our Mint to give Liberty to the
said Gravers to make such Medals from time to time of fine Gold and
fine Silver for the Improvement of the Art of Graving as do not relate to
state Affairs taking care that such of them as shall be for the Rewarding
persons for good services to Vs have Impressed upon them the service for ch.
such Medals were given with the Date; And Our further pleasure is
And Wee do hereby Impower you likewise to direct and Require the said
Gravers and every of them to make such other historical Medals in Memory
of great Actions as shall be approved of by the Warden Master & Worker, &
Comptroller of Our Mint aforesaid, And in order thereunto you the Master
and Worker of Our Mint are to direct the said Gravers to make such
Embossements puncheons Dyes and other Instruments as shall be
requisite for Coining the same. For all which this shall be your Warrant.
