The Exaiacon if Abram Brett taken this 27^th. day of Iune 1700. before Isaac Newton Esq^r.

Abram Brett of the Parish of St Iames's in y^e libert of Westm^r Gold smith being Exaied upon Oath Saith that one Shaw (who is a reputed Gold smith) ab^t 4¨ months agoe brought to this Exaiants fathers shop a lump of Melted Gold {illeg}|We|ighing Eig{illeg}|h|t penny weight or above and offered to sell it, alleaging y^t it was 2¨ Guineas better than standard but upon this deponents questioning y^e Goodness of it he went away and carried the said Lump of Gold with him And this deponent further Saith that the said Shaw has severall times offered Guineas to Exchange for silver att his said fathers shop:
