Fol. 18 lin. 6 Quære whether it be not better to strik {sic} out the words And that he will make such deliverance within the space of sixty days after the receipt of the Bullion to be coined.

Fol. 19 lin 7 strike out the caluse: And the sai{illeg}|d| Master is hereby appointed ... in the said Schedule.

Fol. 20 lin 22 let the clause run as in the Indenture of the Min{illeg}|t| in the Tower.

Fol. 8 Dele lin 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14 to ye words, in fineness thereby were made by direction of her Majesty. |If not, the trial-pieces made the order of| /Iames may be inserted.\

Fol. 24. The salaries of the three Cler last Clerks were given since the union d|f|or carrying on ye recionage, & were not intended to be perpetual. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
~ Ib. The salary & Office of ye Clerk of the Bullion is ceased. The Counterwarden is surveyor of the meltings by his Office & is so named in ye Indenture of body of the Indenture, & there is no need of a new Weigher & Teller. If these salaries ab amounting to 170li be not withing my Lord's allowance, they this summ may be applied to \defray/ the charges of melting refining & coining, & will suffice to coin about 7{0}|5|00li per an of silver moneys Otherwise there will be an Indenture to enable & require the Master to coin, & no moneys \imprest/ to defray the Charges.

Fol 24 lin {illeg}|8|. The Office & salary of the Clerk of the Bullion is ceased & ought not to be named in the Schedule. If he would be Weigh{illeg} Weigher & Teller he must get a Patent for the place. And then his Office wth the Salary must|ay| be inserted in ye Schedule of this or the next Indenture. But it must be inserted in general terms wthout naming him.

Ib. l. 25. The Comptroller is Surveyor of the meltings by his place & is called by that name in the body of the Indenture. {illeg}|And| the Master of ye Mint {illeg} Ib. l. 30, 31, 32. or his deputy receives & dele|i|vers by weight tillt hre be another Weigher appointed

Ib. {illeg} 3{illeg}, 3

Ib. l 30, 31, 32. The three Clerks wth Salaries of 40li pr|e|r an{illeg}|n| were instituted since the Vnion for carrying on ye recoinage & were not designed to be {illeg}|p|erpetal. And if they be continued the salaries of the Counterwarden & Queens Clerk ought to be a{illeg}|u|gmented {illeg} \the first to/ {illeg}|80|li {&} \the other to/ 50li {illeg} or 60li that pr that they may be proportionat to ye superior dignity & duty of their places.

NB. The Salaries in ye Schedule shewn to ye Attorney Gen amounted unto 880li wch being deducted out of 1200li pr an leaves 320li per an to pay for the coinage & incidents according to the Attorneys report. In that schedule ye Att Wardens Salary is set down 100li but a little before the coinage union it was augmented to 150li pr an. And so the Salaries at the Vnion amountted {sic} to 930li pr an, recconing a scotish sous for a penny English wch is 9 per cent too much. My Ld Treasurer think {illeg} thinks that the salaries be continued as at the Vnion & has given directions for preparing a draught accordingly to be signed by the Queen. According to these directions the Schedule will stand thus

To ye General 300li. To ye Master 200l. To the Wa principal Warden 150li To the \{illeg}/ Counterwarden or Comptroller 60li. To the Assaymaster 100li. To the Sinker or Graver 50li. To the Queens Clerk & Clerk of ye papers & cions {sic} 40. To the aster Smith 30li.These being the salaries at ye Vnion to be {illeg}|C|ontinued by my Lords ord{illeg}|er| & <7v> Attorneys Gens report being grounded upon a supposition that the charges of coinage \& incidents/ may be paid out of the surplus, I am of opinion that no more salaries be inserted into ye schedule wthout my Lord Treasurer's order lead the{illeg}re be no money \left/ to pay for the coinage, wch would make the Indenture inconsistent wth it self.

NB By the Attorney Gen's Report the \charge of/ Coynage is to be paid out of the excess of salaries ye 1200li above the salaries, & by my Ld Treasurer's order a new Indenture is to be drawn in wch the salaries are to be continued as at the union. And at ye Vnion the salaries were as follows to ye General 300l. To ye Master 200li to the principal Warden 150li. To the Counterwarden or Comptroller 60li. To the Assaymr 100li. To the Sinker or Graver 50li. To the Queens Clerk & Clerk of the Papers & irons 40li to the master Smith 30li. These salaries amounting to 930li & the repairs of t{illeg}|h|e buildings wch will amount to about 80 or 90li per an being deducted from ye 1200 per an leaves but 180 or 190li per an{illeg}|n| for defraying all the charges of coinage.
