Whereas for ye better Carrying on ye service of ye Recoynag\e/ of ye Monies in Scottland ꝑsuant to ye Acts of Parliament for ye Vnion of ye two Kingdoms of England and Scottland. It has been represented by ye Warden of Our Mint at Edinburgh (amongst other things) That 2 Monyrs. from Our Mint within ye Tower of London should be sent down to Edinburgh both for working & directing ye servants already in Our Mint of Scottland to work that there may not be ye least difference betwixt the Coyns of ye 2 Mints, & that both Mints may be putt into one form of working in all time comeing & whereas ye Warden Mastr. & Workr. & Comptr. of Our Mint within Our Tower of London to whome ye said Memorial was referr'd have reported that upon discoursing with ye Monyrs. they finde them of opinion that this Our Service will be ye better Carry'd on by sending three of theire Company, & that they have recomended You to undertake ye Coynage of ye Money (That is to say) to draw ye Barrs at ye Mill, Neale & Cutt ye pieces, to flatten, size Blanch & Coyne ye Mony, & beare ye charge of all ye Waste thereon wth ye allowance of Nine pence ꝑ pound weight & sixteen pounds Each for ye charge of yor. journey backwards & forwards & that whenever there shall not be one thousand pound weight Coyn'd in one Week after yor. arrival you shall be allow'd three shillings a day Each over & above your work for that Week. And upon Condicon that all necessary tools, Horses fireing & allom, be furnish'd for you all wch: they conceive to be reasonable. We haveing taken ye prmisses into Our Royal Consideracon do approve of what is so proposed & accordingly our Will & pleasure is & We do hereby direct & require you forthwith to repaire to our Mint at Edenburgh & undertake ye Recoynage of ye Money in Scottland according to such Rules, Methods & Instructions as by ye Indenture of Our Mint in England & the Charter thereof is directed and prscribed & in such maner & upon such Condicon & allowances as are above <11v> recited which allowances Our Pleasure is & We do hereby Direct authorize & Command shall be paide in such maner as Our High Treasr: of Great Britainne or ye Commrs. of Our Treasury. for ye time being shall think fitt, & that there may not be ye least difference betwixt the Coyns of Our two Mints in all time comeing We do hereby direct & require you to continue at Edinburgh not only till ye whole Recoynage there be over but likewise untill such time as We shall have otherwaies ordained & provided for ye Coynage of our Moneys in Our said Mint there, or that you shall obtaine leave from Our High Treasr. to returne to England & all Our officers of Our Mint at Edinburgh are to take notice hereof & Govern themselves accordingly Given at Our Court at Windsor Castle the 12th. day of Iuly 1707 In ye 6th. yeare of our Reigne
