Whereas for y^e better Carrying on y^e service of y^e Recoynag\e/ of y^e Monies in Scottland ꝑsuant to y^e Acts of Parliament for y^e Vnion of y^e two Kingdoms of England and Scottland. It has been represented by y^e Warden of Our Mint at Edinburgh (amongst other things) That 2 Mony^rs. from Our Mint within y^e Tower of London should be sent down to Edinburgh both for working & directing y^e servants already in Our Mint of Scottland to work that there may not be y^e least difference betwixt the Coyns of y^e 2 Mints, & that both Mints may be putt into one form of working in all time comeing & whereas y^e Warden Mast^r. & Work^r. & Compt^r. of Our Mint within Our Tower of London to whome y^e said Memorial was referr'd have reported that upon discoursing with y^e Mony^rs. they finde them of opinion that this Our Service will be y^e better Carry'd on by sending three of theire Company, & that they have recomended You to undertake y^e Coynage of y^e Money (That is to say) to draw y^e Barrs at y^e Mill, Neale & Cutt y^e pieces, to flatten, size Blanch & Coyne y^e Mony, & beare y^e charge of all y^e Waste thereon w^th y^e allowance of Nine pence ꝑ pound weight & sixteen pounds Each for y^e charge of yo^r. journey backwards & forwards & that whenever there shall not be one thousand pound weight Coyn'd in one Week after yo^r. arrival you shall be allow'd three shillings a day Each over & above your work for that Week. And upon Condicon that all necessary tools, Horses fireing & allom, be furnish'd for you all w^ch: they conceive to be reasonable. We haveing taken y^e p^rmisses into Our Royal Consideracon do approve of what is so proposed & accordingly our Will & pleasure is & We do hereby direct & require you forthwith to repaire to our Mint at Edenburgh & undertake y^e Recoynage of y^e Money in Scottland according to such Rules, Methods & Instructions as by y^e Indenture of Our Mint in England & the Charter thereof is directed and p^rscribed & in such maner & upon such Condicon & allowances as are above <11v> recited which allowances Our Pleasure is & We do hereby Direct authorize & Command shall be paide in such maner as Our High Treas^r: of Great Britainne or y^e Comm^rs. of Our Treasur^y. for y^e time being shall think fitt, & that there may not be y^e least difference betwixt the Coyns of Our two Mints in all time comeing We do hereby direct & require you to continue at Edinburgh not only till y^e whole Recoynage there be over but likewise untill such time as We shall have otherwaies ordained & provided for y^e Coynage of our Moneys in Our said Mint there, or that you shall obtaine leave from Our High Treas^r. to returne to England & all Our officers of Our Mint at Edinburgh are to take notice hereof & Govern themselves accordingly Given at Our Court at Windsor Castle the 12^th. day of Iuly 1707 In y^e 6^th. yeare of our Reigne
