Note that since the yeare 1686 their monies have been augmented 25 pr cent so that there is a difference of 25 pr cent between ye Reales or Piasters of new plate & those of old plate. 100 Ducates of new plate {are wort} double are worth 125 Ducats current & so of other species.

Note also that the Ducat is not a real coyne but an imaginary one being a name put for 11 Reos or {illeg}|3|74 Maravadis in Marchandising & 11 Reos & 1 Marav. or 275 Maravadis in Bills of Exchange. For Exchanges are made by the Ducat.

Note also that ye Spaniards have two sorts of Money the one of Plate wch is reale & effective wch {illeg}|i|s & the other of B{illeg} Billon wch is partly real (of silver & copper) & partly imaginary, & that this money is half ye value of ye money of plate.

A Castilian of Merchandise or Castiliano is worth 485 Maravadis.
