At the Tryal of the Pix 29^th Aug^t. 1716

On y^e Indenture dated 14 Ianry 1702 in y^e first Year of 2: Ann to Isaac Newton Esq^r. now S^r. Isaac Newton the Allowed remedy of which is for Gold 40 graines upon the Pound Weight either in fineness or weight or both & for silver 2^dwt. upon the Pound weight either in finess or weight or both &; also on a Warrant from K George dated 24 March 1714 in the first year of his reign to Continue the Coinage.

The gold & silver monies Coyned in his Majesties Mint within the Tower of London from the 2^d day of August 1715 exclusive to y^e 29 day of August 1716 Inclusive The Gold Monies at 44^li. 10^s y^e Pound weight & the silver monies at 3^li. 2^s. the Pound weight with the monies in the Present Pix.

of the Monies in the Pix the 29 August 1716

The assaye & tryal of his Majesties Coines in the Pix of y^e Mint within the Tower of London by us whose names are underwritten sworn before the Right Hon^ble: y^e Lords of his Majes^ts. most Hon^ble: Privy Councell the 29 Aug^t. 1716 at y^e house Inhabited by y^e Vsher within the Receipt of his Majes^ts. Tower of London from the second day of August 1715 to y^e said 29 day of August 1716 as well by Vertue of a certain Indenture under the great seale of England bearing date y^e 14 Ianry 1702 in the first Year of the Reign of her late Majesty Queen Ann made between her said Late Majesty of the One Part & Isaac Newton Esqr (now S^r. Isaac Newton K^t) master & worker of her said late Majesties Mint of the other part. As also by vertue of a Warrant under the sign Mannual of his present Majesty King George bearing date the 21 March 1714 in the first Year of his said Majesties Reign directed unto the said S^r. Richard Sandford being Warden & Martin Bladen Esq^r Comp^r. of his said Majesties Mint

Gold taken out of the Pix according to the aforesaid Indenture and Warrant weighing 51^li: 8^s: 12^d: 6^q at 44^li: 10^s ꝑ pound w^t amounts to 2301^li 9^s 9^d & makes in coined monies by tale (consisting of 2 five pound pieces 2292 twenty shilling pieces & 12 ten shilling pieces y^e sum of 2308. And we taking out of the said sum of 2308^li one five pound piece 36 twenty shilling pieces & 7 ten shilling pieces making in coined monies by tale 44^li 10^s 0^d wee find to weigh Eleven ounces 19^d: 3^gr which at 3^li 14^s 2^d ꝑ oz amounts to 44^li 6^s 8^d $\frac{3}{4}$ & is in finess by the assay agreeable to the standard in his Majesties Treasury dated 15 October 1688

Silv^r. Monies taken out of the Pix according to the aforesaid Indenture & warrant weighing 1^li: 2^s: 16^d: 22^gr which at 3^li: 2^s: 0^d ꝑ pound w^t. amounts to 3^li: 16^s: 8^d $\frac{1}{4}$ & makes in Coined monies by tale Consisting of 7 Crowns 7 half Crowns 24 shillings & 3 pennies) y^e sum of 3. 15: 9 and we taking out of the said sum of 3: 16: 9 5 Crowns 6 half Crowns 22 shillings amounting to by tale 3^li 2^s 0^d do find the same to weigh 11: 19: 14 w^ch. at 3: 2: 0 ꝑ pound w^t. makes three pounds one shilling & ten pence half penny & is in finess by the assay agreeable to the standard in his Majesties Treasury dated the 15 October 1688

The Verdict

Wee find by the assays & tryals of the several monies abovemenconed that theY are agreeable to the Standards in his Majesties Treasury & Covenants in the aforesaid Indenture & in Weight Tale and allay within y^e Remedies Ordained in such manner and form{illeg} as is above expressed & declared according to our best knowledge & discretions.
