Custodial History

SL188 originally consisted of three copies (described as 'autograph' in the Sotheby catalogue but this regularly fails to distinguish Humphrey Newton's handwriting from Isaac's): the whereabouts of the other two is unknown. The lot was bought at the Sotheby sale by Maggs Brothers for £10 and offered to Keynes on inspection, but he returned it on 19 August 1936. One copy (this one?) was offered by Maggs Brothers in their undated Catalogue no. 641 (item 165).
