The arrangements for meeting the costs of coinage in Scotland established under the act of 1686 are no longer applicable since the Union, which requires conformity between the London and Edinburgh Mints. Funds should have been supplied instead by the bullion collector [Daniel Stewart], but on account of his death there is no money available to pay salaries with.
